The Producers!

The Sunday December 12th 7:00 PM Eastern session of the Circus Historical Society's Circus History Live! series featured three legendary circus professionals who have collectively produced hundreds of Shrine, fair, festival, amusement park, and school show circuses. A recording of this session is available on the CHS YouTube Channel.

During his tenure of over 41 consecutive years producing the Big E Super Circus in Massachusetts and the Maine Shrine Circus dates, Wayne McCary employed hundreds of circus performers, musicians and other professionals, and produced thousands of circus performances that were seen by millions of people. He also produced circuses at the Indiana and Utah State Fairs. He was President and CEO of The Big E from 1991 to 2012.

Billy Martin has been the producer, owner, and singing ringmaster of the Cole All-Star Circus since 1987.  Celebrating its 80th year in operation, the Cole All-Star Circus was designed as a fund-raising event for school groups and organizations across New York State.  Mr. Martin also produced circuses at fairs and amusement parks throughout the United States for over 30 years.

Joe Barney is the owner of Center Ring Productions which specializes in producing large-scale family entertainment throughout the Northeast. He is also producer and director of entertainment for Six Flags Amusement Parks in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. In addition to producing, Joe performs as a circus clown and ringmaster, and was the supervisor of the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital in Connecticut.  He has also been the VIP Santa Claus at Macy's flagship store in Herald Square New York for many years.
